PDVN Company History – Our Start in 1980 and Brief Company History
In 1980, Mark Toney opened Preferred Telephone Systems, Inc. to fill a need in the marketplace for a key system vendor to businesses. At that time, businesses did not have many choices for phones. Most businesses in 1980 leased phone equipment from “Ma Bell” and paid exorbitant prices for phones that did not do much other than ring.
Over the years, many of our customers who started small have grown significantly. Further, our staff has expanded to provide expertise for companies of all sizes. Now we provide system installations for companies with needs ranging from 2 to thousands of phones.
Since we began in the telecom industry, the norm was electronic telephones supported by a key service unit (or “brain”). Now, the industry has moved towards merging with data and our product service offering has moved with it.
In 2011, we changed our name to Preferred Data Voice Networks to reflect the changes in the industry. We are more than a telephone system vendor – our business is communications, voice and data. As the communications world changes, we will be there to help make it easy to get the best fit at the best price.
We provide solutions for all businesses, with options designed to save you time and money. The network service offerings available to businesses are myriad, and complex. Our sales staff has been highly trained and will design a system that is customized to fit your needs, at affordable prices. That is the Preferred Way!
